The Wright Group/McGraw-Hill has an immediate opening for a Supervising Editor for Pre-K-5 and supplemental literacy products in the Editorial Department in the downtown Chicago office. Responsibilities: Maintain overall accountability for one or more specific programs including content, schedules, budget and project plans Provide innovative content input for manuscript preparation and review manuscript for editorial quality in preparation for production Assess market and develop product plan, including identifying market issues, gathering market information and completing competition studies Develop explicit project guidelines to ensure the project meets specifications Supervise direct reports and build successful teams Maintain relationships and provide supervision with authors, writers, consultants, reviewers, full house developers, and others to ensure quality products as assigned Ensure program requirements are aligned with approved Publishing Plan Authorization (PPA) and manage the project P&L to ensure the target Internal Rate of Return is met Manage financial aspects of assigned programs within established guidelines Collaborate with other departments including: Art/Photo, Design, Production, Sales and Marketing to ensure a successful product launch Requirements: Bachelor's degree in related field; Masters degree preferred Must possess four years editorial experience on literacy products Experience with project management and budget development Supervisory experience Proficiency with Microsoft Office product including Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, and Outlook as well as the Internet Experience in publishing technology Experience in K-4 and In-Copy Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills Classroom teaching and educational publishing experience is preferred The McGraw-Hill Companies is an equal opportunity employer
