The Schools Solutions Group of McGraw-Hill Education has an immediate opening for an Executive Editor in our Science Department in Columbus, OH. Responsibilities: Identify market needs and propose new product ideas, as they relate to Science, in collaboration with editorial management, outside consultants, authors, sales, marketing, design, production, and outside developers. As part of department management team, develop science programs that meet current and future marketing needs and address customer needs (teachers, administrators, students, and parents). Review product content to ensure that it meets guidelines and specifications. Manage editorial development of projects to ensure product quality, consistency, and accuracy and adherence to product plan. Supervise editorial teams and identify training needs to ensure that team members are trained appropriately and debriefed of project responsibilities. Propose solutions for immediate and long-term project staffing needs and evaluatequality and cost of outside writing/editorial vendors. Requirements: Bachelor's degree with a major in a science or science education 5-8 years of editorial experience in educational publishing 2-4 years experience managing teams, schedules, and budgets Ability to solve proactively and creatively problems related to program development Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written), organizational and time management skills, and interpersonal skills Proficient in Microsoft Office products including Word, Outlook, and Excel Desired : Previous classroom teaching experience Experience with K-4 and In-Copy The McGraw-Hill Companies is an equal opportunity employer.
