McGraw-Hill Professional has an outstanding opportunity for an Editorial Assistant , based in our New York office. The Editorial Assistant will assist editors in all areas of acquisitions and development of manuscripts and content for the medical market. Additionally, the Editorial Assistant will perform a variety of administrative duties including correspondence, filing, completing forms, processing author payments, managing data, helping with research on competitive books and potential projects, working with online contributors, and will have frequent phone contact with authors and online vendors. In general, the Editorial Assistant will be asked to play an all around role in maintaining author and agent relationships, contributing to meetings, and contributing to a strong, proactive editorial team. Essential Accountabilities include: Perform all needed editorial procedures, paperwork and follow-up associated with the acquisitions and publishing process. This includes in part, processing and sending out contracts, check requisitions, contributor payments, and numerous other forms. Frequent contact with authors and contributors regarding projects and following up on chapters, contributor agreements and permissions. This includes sending out contributor packages, reminder letters, reminder phone calls, emails and independent follow-up in order to maintain schedules. Traffic and post online content to various medical portal sites. Process and log-in manuscripts and prepare final manuscripts for production. Maintain and keep up-to-date editorial database and book files. Interface with accounts payable on status of check requisitions. Correspond with digital editorial advisory boards and coordinate annual meetings. · Bachelor's Degree in related discipline · Excellent organizational skills · Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. · Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously · Proficient use of Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, internet etc · One year of experience in publishing a plus The McGraw-Hill Companies is an equal opportunity employer.
